Did you know that yoga and mindfulness provideĀ valuable opportunities for social emotional learning?

Today, we're celebrating the second International SEL Day! SEL Day is an opportunity to collectively spread the word about the importance and impact of social emotional learning. Social emotional learning (SEL) changes livesā€”studies show that SEL improves well-being and academic outcomes, builds positive school climate, and provides children with necessary intra- and interpersonal skills.

Did you know that yoga and mindfulness provide valuable opportunities for social emotional learning? Through mindful movement, breath work, focus activities, and practices that cultivate compassion for self and others, young people gain skills in regulating their emotions and building supportive relationships. Here, at The Oxygen Project, our programs are designed to support social emotional learning standards with the powerful practices of yoga and mindfulness.

In celebration of SEL Day, we recognize and honor all the teachers, counselors, and school leaders who ensure that social emotional learning is an integral part of their work with youth!
